We're looking for POC artists and designers to create the cover for our next anthology, and for ezine artwork going forward.

Please submit your portfolio details here, and we'll be in touch if we like your style!

The artist chosen for the cover will be paid $250 to come up with an original design, payable in thirds:

  •  One-third when the project begins
  • One-third within 30 days of the first approved draft
  • One-third within 30 days of the final approved piece with proper formatting
Artists may have the option for additional compensation in exchange for our rights to create prints or other salable artwork.

Sanguine Press is opening rolling submissions to the semi-annual e-zine, Dreamers & Makers.

Short stories must be 3,000 words or less.

Issue 1 Theme: Defiance/Obedience

What is the cost of defiance and who really ends up paying? What do we give up in unquestioned obedience, and is it tantamount to capitulation?

Give in, give up, or go all out--we want to see it all.

Story characters must be predominantly People of Color.

We are particularly interested in featuring stories from POC and are open to all explorations of intersectionality.

Genres: Sci-fi, Fantasy, or Horror (no poetry, please)

Pay: $120 per story or art piece

Contract Overview: Our contract covers the right to publish your story online at Sanguine Press, and other digital formats. We ask for exclusive rights for one year, and non-exclusive after that. A full contract will be provided upon acceptance into the ezine.

No multiple submissions: Please only send us one story at a time, and wait for a response before sending another. We’re excited to get to read your work, but as a small team we have to do all we can to give as many authors as possible a fair chance to be read.

No simultaneous submissions: If you decide to submit to another publisher, please send us a note and withdraw your submission here, first. We ask this only because of time constraints, and this policy may change in the future when our staff expands. We absolutely will NOT hold it against you if you decide to withdraw your work.

No previously-published works: We’re thrilled to have published authors submit their work for consideration! But please, no work that has already been published elsewhere.

Please Note: Yes, it takes us a (sometimes very) long time to get back to people on their submissions. We know and are working to get faster/better. Stay patient and we love you!

Sanguine Press is currently open for submissions to our next anthology,  Betrayal & Redemption

Theme:
What do we risk in betraying those closest to us? What path is there to reconciliation if trust is broken? And what feeling is more satisfying than a double-cross richly deserved?

Your story must feature a predominantly POC cast to be considered. In addition, we are particularly interested in submissions from WOC (women of color) and other marginalized voices.

Genres: Sci-fi, Fantasy, or Horror (no poetry, please)

Story Length:
For this anthology, we’re looking for original, short fiction up to 8,000 words. While we’ll read a piece that’s slightly longer, we will absolutely not consider any story over 10,000 words. Your story must be complete within the stated word count – no serials or other multi-part pieces.

No multiple submissions: Please only send us one story at a time, and wait for a response before sending another. We’re excited to get to read your work, but as a two-person team we have to do all we can to give as many authors as possible a fair chance to be read.

We solemnly swear we will respond to you whether your work is accepted or not, but please give us at least 2 (two) months to read and get back to you. If you haven’t heard from us by then, by all means, send us a note to see what’s up. We know that’s a long time to wait, and we thank you for being so patient with us as we work to get faster and better at this!
